Diabetes Self-Management Education course

March 27 @ 09:00 - 15:30

Two women sitting on a bench talking about diabetes self-management.

Free information day for people with Type 2 and pre-diabetes

Diabetes Self-Management Education (DSME) helps you better understand diabetes and its causes, and get advice and tips to maintain good health. We host the DSME course in small groups to deliver the best value to all attendees and provide a safe environment for questions and learning.

Our Diabetes Nurse educator and Dietitian (with Podiatrist and Health Psychologist support) will discuss:

  • Healthy eating: label reading, good and bad fats, food choices
  • How to stop/control the effects of diabetes on the body (heart/eyes/kidneys/nerves/feet)
  • Medications: how they work and new choices available
  • Understanding your blood test results
  • Goal setting (action planning and free support available)
  • How to work with your health team

The course runs from 09:00am – 3:00pm. We’ll provide refreshments and there will be a break for lunch (please provide your own lunch).

Please feel free to bring a family member or friend for support.
