Diabetes Self-Management Education course

February 20 @ 09:00 - 15:30

A family walking away after attending a CCPHO diabetes management course

Free information day for people with Type 2 and pre-diabetes

Our Diabetes Self-Management Education (DSME) courses help you better understand diabetes, its causes, and how to maintain and improve your health. We host the DSME course in small groups to deliver the best value to all attendees and provide a safe environment for questions and learning.

Our Diabetes Nurse educator and Dietitian (with Podiatrist and Health Psychologist support) will speak with you about:

  • Healthy eating: label reading, good and bad fats, food choices
  • How to stop/control the effects of diabetes on the body (heart/eyes/kidneys/nerves/feet)
  • Medications – how they work and new choices available
  • Understanding your blood test results
  • Goal setting (action planning and free support available)
  • How to work with your health team

The course runs from 09:00am – 3:30pm. We’ll provide a bag of seasonal fruits and vegetables to each attendee, and there will be a break for lunch.

Please feel free to bring a family member or friend for support.

Bookings essential – contact us to register
